How do I issue a refund for my guest's ticket or payment?

Refund a ticket or payment for your event from your Dashboard > Overview.

Updated over a week ago

When planning an event, there may be a handful of times that you need or want to provide a refund to one of your guests for various reasons. You can process refunds directly from the dashboard of your event.

You can also refund guests through your Stripe account. This guide walks through how to process a refund directly from Stripe.

How to refund a guest payment through RSVPify

  1. Find the guest you want to refund in your Reporting > Overview page

  2. Click on the Payment tab in their submission summary

  3. Select Refund option

Refund a payment from your Dashboard > Overview.

    4. By default, you will issue a full refund. For a partial refund, enter a different amount to be refunded.
    5. Enter a refund note (optional). This is only visible to you and your event collaborators. Additionally, you can choose to cancel the registration. This will update the existing reply to 'Not Attending'.

How to refund a guest through Stripe

You can also process refunds directly through your Stripe account.

  1. Find the payment you want to refund in the Payments page.

  2. Click the overflow menu (...) to the right of the payment, then select Refund payment.

  3. By default, you’ll issue a full refund. For a partial refund, enter a different refund amount.

  4. Select a reason for the refund. If you select Other, you must add a note that explains the reason for the refund. Click Refund.

Alternatively, you can click on a specific payment and issue a refund from its details page.

Will my guests be notified or receive an email about their refund and/or canceled registration?

RSVPify does not send automated emails in the event of updates to a registration completed by the host through the dashboard.

If you would like guests to receive automatic notifications for refunds processed, you can enable this on your Stripe account. To update this setting, go to settings > customer emails, and toggle on the refunds option.

Note: "successful payments" would only apply to payments initiated in Stripe, not payments made through your RSVPify event registration.

If you would like to send guests a customized communication about their registration status, you can use the built-in email tool within RSVPify. Learn more here.

When Will The Refund Be Processed?

Stripe submits refund requests to the bank or card issuer immediately. They will see the refund as a credit approximately 5-10 business days later, depending upon the bank. *Once issued, a refund cannot be canceled*

Will service and processing fees also be refunded?

Fees for the processing of a given order are non-refundable, and in the event that a ticket purchaser is refunded for their purchase of ticket(s) to your event, the associated RSVPify fee will not be refunded. If you would like to have the guest cover the cost of those fees, you can provide them with a partial refund.
