When creating an event, you might realize that you initially selected a ticketed event setup type, but later want to change it to work as a simple RSVP. If you don't intend to sell tickets to your event, starting over and creating a new event might seem like the only option, but there is a simple workaround to remove the ticketing block that can save you time and effort.
Step 1: Open the Ticketing Block Settings
Go to your event form (Form Builder page) and open the ticketing block settings by clicking on the gear tool icon at the top of the ticketing block. This will allow you to make the necessary changes to your event.
Step 2: Remove Ticket Tiers
Once you're in the ticketing block settings, remove all the ticket tiers that have been set up. Then, set up one ticket tier for the "Attending" response and make sure the "Item Type" is set to “Admit one”. This will make your ticketing block look more like a simple RSVP.
Note: If you already have the "Attending" selection with a payment attached to it, look at the next step.
Step 3: Disable the Payment Option
Next, you'll need to remove the "Payment" option. Click on the gear tool icon next to the selection that requires payment and disable the "Selection Requires Payment" option. This will turn your ticketing block into a simple RSVP form.
By following these steps, you can change your event type from a ticketed event to a simple RSVP without having to start over. This workaround will allow you to make the necessary changes to your event without any hassle.
Turning a Simple RSVP into a Ticketed event
If you find yourself in the opposite situation where you would like to receive payments for the simple RSVP you set up, then you can follow these steps:
Step 1: Access RSVP Block settings
Make sure to go to your Form Builder page and click on the gear tool icon at the top of the RSVP block in order to make the necessary changes.
Step 2: Add a payment option
Add a payment option to the selections in the block by clicking on a gear tool icon next to the selection you want.
Once you do that, toggle on the "Selection Requires Payment" option and set the price.
Tip: If you need more than one payment selection, you can use the "Maybe attending" selection by enabling it and attaching a payment to it too.
