Updated over a week ago

RSVPify is committed to the safety and security of its platform, and the absolute privacy of all of our user's information and data as well of that of their event guests.

To underscore our commitment to privacy, RSVPify has sought self-certification under the EU - U.S. Privacy Shield Framework.

What is the EU - U.S. Privacy Shield Framework?

The Privacy Shield Framework is a method of signaling compliance with European Union (EU) data protection laws and requirements intended to protect the privacy of of citizens and residents of the EU.

The Framework outlines seven core principles of elevated data privacy practices that RSVPify is committed to practicing in the EU and across international borders.

Is RSVPify compliant with the latest data transfer agreement as adopted July 10, 2023?

The EU-US Privacy Shield was struck down by the European Court of Justice (ECJ) in July 2020. The ECJ found that the Privacy Shield did not provide adequate protection for EU citizens' data from US government surveillance.

In response, the US and EU governments negotiated a new data transfer agreement, called the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. The Data Privacy Framework was adopted by the European Commission on July 10, 2023.

The Data Privacy Framework includes a number of new safeguards to address the concerns raised by the ECJ in the Schrems II decision. These safeguards include:

  • A new mechanism for independent review of complaints from Europeans whose data has been accessed by US intelligence agencies.

  • New limits on the government's ability to access data transferred under the Data Privacy Framework.

  • New requirements for companies to notify individuals if their data has been accessed by the government.

The Data Privacy Framework is now the primary legal basis for data transfers between the EU and the US, and RSVPify complies with new safeguards and provisions of the Privacy Shield Framework.
